The eagerly awaited Halliday 2020 Wine Companion was released last week. Semprevino has maintained our 4.5 star winery rating and three recent releases were featured and scored highly. The most exciting for us was the review of our 2017 McLaren Vale GSM, a wine blend we have made from old vine Grenache and Shiraz since we formed Semprevino some 11 years ago. The wine scored 95 points and reviewer Ned Goodwin MW was so excited about this he wrote one of the more memorable wine descriptions we have read in a while:
Great stuff and it is a tribute to the evolution of winemaker Russell Schroder’s winemaking that this classic blend is achieving these accolades.
In addition the this we were really please that our 2016 Adelaide Hills Nebbiolo was rated 93 points and our 2018 McLaren Vale Pinot Grigio was also rated 93 points.
