Tasting: The fruit for this wine has been sourced from old McLaren Vale vines to ensure great intensity of flavours. The nose is fragrant and complex. Aromas of dried flowers, strawberries and plums are underlined with hints of white pepper. The palate is medium bodied, soft dry tannins linger on a warm finish.
“Sourced from various old plots around the traps, with an average vine age in excess of 60 years. 73/18/9% grenache/shiraz/mourvèdre. This is good. Reminiscent of quality Côtes du Rhône, with a swirl of purple fruits and florals, sluiced with Mediterranean herb, iodine and some smoked-meat extract. The tannins, gently fibrous against the effortless flow of fruit. An acceptable whiff of reduction, imparts tension. Mid weighted, plump and extremely versatile.”
